Katy Perry - "Dark Horse"

Izhak Roitman was creative director for the production of the music video "Dark Horse" for Katy Perry with a compact and talented team at Mirada Studios, Directed by Mathew Cullen. A mammoth undertaking of 127 Vfx shots in two weeks.

Dark Horse won Best Female Video at both the U.S. and Europe MTV Music Video Awards in 2014. Incredibly, the video has been viewed over 1.5 billion times on YouTube. According to the Wall Street Journal and Rolling Stone Magazine the video also earned the title of the most-watched music video of 2014.

 

Animation World Network writes: "From creating giant Egyptian pyramids and architecture, building and animating a talking sphinx, to recreating the exotic Nile River, integrating elaborate matte paintings, and turning men into dust, the team of gifted Mirada artists yielded all the incredible visuals in just eleven days. As Ashton put it, “The project was an adventure in the truest sense of the word. We had an excellent team that embraced the story and pulled together to make a very big, unique film in a very short period of time. A perfect storm indeed.” Tools used include The Foundry’s NUKE, Autodesk Maya, Chaos Group V-Ray, Side Effects Houdini, Pixologic ZBrush, Andersson Technologies SynthEyes, Autodesk Flame Adobe Photoshop, MAXON CINEMA 4D and Adobe After Effects."
